Please Join Us In Making This Mom's Day!!!

After talking to a young mother this morning I wanted to share her story and see if we might be able to help her out today...

She contacted Ruth's Heart last September and at that time was pregnant and had 4 children, ages 9,7,6,2.  She was trying to get on her feet and was enrolled for housing through the Agape program.  She had to wait 2 weeks for housing and we assisted her with one week at Trinity shelter.

We tried to contact her in October and her number was no longer in service so we weren't sure what was going on...

Well, she called today and since we last talked to her last, she has completed the 4 month program at Agape.  She is enrolled in CDL school that starts Monday morning and is planning to get her CDL and apply for a school bus driving position.  She is supposed to be moving into her new apt this weekend.  MIFA is assisting her with her first 2 months rent so she will have rent and utilities paid while she goes to school, she is moving because her housing through Agape was only for 6 months.

The only thing keeping her from moving into her own apartment is that she has a MLGW bill of $468 and cannot move into her new apartment until utilities are on, and can't have the utilities transferred until this is paid.

A Humble Morning...

A gentleman that calls us about once a month for a single bus pass called this morning...for the first time in over a year he asked for his usual single bus pass for his a family counseling appt. and this time he also asked if there was any way we could help him find some food. I am often humbled by the selflessness of the people we serve. The tone in his voice sounded genuinely sorry to be asking for food...I wonder if I could ever be so humble in his situation.

Remember our dear friend Korea? You may remember a post about her and her family a few weeks ago. We have a very special request for her today. Previously her family all slept on the floors (pallet beds as she says) but today she has had beds (mattresses and box springs) donated for her whole family!!! 

However, she doesn't have any bedding or frames for them. She has a King a Queen and a Full size bed. Please visit our webpage below and if you can help with any of these items, please let us know!!!

Don't forget to count your blessings....

We were so very blessed with a call this morning from a sweet woman named Korea, she is 60 years old, lives with her husband and 19 year old son. She is really struggling right now, but we talked and prayed together this morning for about a half hour and she explained repeatedly how grateful she was for her home, her neighbors, her family, and her church family, and the list went on...I was interested so I looked up her address. The view from her front porch is pictured below...needless to say I was humbled. 

Her needs that "I HEARD" during our talk were Food, Clothes, Rent, Furniture, Household Items, Gas and Tires for her van. What she "ASKED" for was...food. She has a very strict diet of low sodium for her heart and only gets $20 per month in food stamps because she doesn't have any small children. We are sending her a $40 Kroger card, job listings for her son and husband, grocery list for her to purchase low sodium items and food pantries in her area but I would still love to bless her with more! Please keep her in your prayers, she is so sweet! If you would like to directly help her, you can make a donation in the name of "Korea" on our webpage. Need help for a family whose home burned

We are working with another local ministry "Big Dog Street Ministry" to assist a family whose home burned.  If you have clothing in any of the following sizes that you can donate please let us know.  Unexpectedly starting over is so hard, please consider helping this family any way you can.  Thank you and God bless!!

A long time client is actively looking for a second job (so proud of her!!!) and needs new clothes to make a good first impression!

Savvy shopping provides meals for $1.17 each!!!

Emergency food bags are a big part of our ministry, thanks to your donations we were recently able to purchase 6 food supplies for families in crisis, many with children. 






Each supply provides about 30 meals each for $211.00...That is $1.17 per meal!!
