Humbled yet again...

A client that is also a very unique artist made this shirt for me!

I just love it and am so very humbled by the blessings that we receive!  He said to took a little longer than he expected because he had to borrow the money for the red paint.  I asked him what I could get him since I didn't have any cash and I'm now at BK loading him up with a whopper meal.  :-). So very blessed!

Sometimes the needs are few...

One of our very special clients who recently received housing after being homeless for many years told me he was bringing me a list of things he still needed for his new apartment. I told him to bring it to me and we would see what we could do....I was so humbled when he handed me this simple list last Saturday at Jacob's Well. I am so thankful that his greatest needs have turned to simple household items like a dustpan and dish rack when last year at this time they were food and shelter. I am thankful for those that are humbled by their past, and still modest and hopeful for their futures! Please join us is praise for this client, he has come a l-o-n-g way!

If you would like to help provide needs like this for our clients making their way out of homelessness, please visit our donations page at www.ruthsheart.org/donations.

We have a special request from a new client, she is a single woman and moved into her apartment in March. She has been living without a stove, washing machine, T.V., couch or even chairs. She did not ask for these things, they came up in ...conversation when I asked her what she had and didn't have...humbling to say the least. She called only to ask for utility assistance because her bill is due later this month and she knows she is going to be short. I am thankful for her trying to be proactive, we have referred her to a partner ministry for help with utilities because the organizations that help with this are either out of funds or she doesn't qualify because she hasn't lost employment in the last 90 days.

If you or anyone you know has any of the appliances she needs and can help deliver them, please let us know! One thing I can promise when providing this type of donation and time is that you will be blessed. Thanks so much and please share...

If you know someone that would like to serve tomorrow by helping move a few pieces of furniture please let us know!

We have donated furniture to pick up and take to a family and we need some "muscle"!  Thanks and be blessed!

Consider for a moment having to GET and KEEP a job without a car or a place to live...I don't think I could do it...but it's a struggle that most of us don't have to think about every morning when we wake up.

But that's not the case for everyone.

One of the things we are so fortunate to do for people who begin working and do not have transportation is provide bus passes and shelter vouchers for them until they get paid the first time and can buy their own.

Today, we heard from a client that is starting his SECOND WEEK OF WORK (Yeah!!) and we are so blessed to be able to provide his transportation.

Next week he will get his first paycheck and he will no longer have to worry about keeping his job due to a lack of transportation. So often, it's the little things that cause such hardship...it has cost this young man a total of $34.00 to keep a job long enough to get a paycheck. I think that is well worth it, don't you???

If you'd like to provide bus passes or shelter vouchers to someone with a new job, or trying to make a new life, you can donate today and make a positive difference in someone's life!

Ms. Dorothy's text to "Miss Ruth"

Sometimes out clients just make me smile! We send Ms. Dorothy bus passes so she can take the bus to her Dr. Appointments and she sent this after hearing I was sick and receiving a bus pass we sent her in the mail yesterday. What a blessing! And I love that she calls me Ms. Ruth, I tell her my name every time we talk and I'm still privileged enough to be Ms. Ruth!
