We have had several calls today from families in Memphis that are about to have their electricity cut off.   One family has 3 very young children.

Please Join Us In Making This Mom's Day!!!

After talking to a young mother this morning I wanted to share her story and see if we might be able to help her out today...

She contacted Ruth's Heart last September and at that time was pregnant and had 4 children, ages 9,7,6,2.  She was trying to get on her feet and was enrolled for housing through the Agape program.  She had to wait 2 weeks for housing and we assisted her with one week at Trinity shelter.

We tried to contact her in October and her number was no longer in service so we weren't sure what was going on...

Well, she called today and since we last talked to her last, she has completed the 4 month program at Agape.  She is enrolled in CDL school that starts Monday morning and is planning to get her CDL and apply for a school bus driving position.  She is supposed to be moving into her new apt this weekend.  MIFA is assisting her with her first 2 months rent so she will have rent and utilities paid while she goes to school, she is moving because her housing through Agape was only for 6 months.

The only thing keeping her from moving into her own apartment is that she has a MLGW bill of $468 and cannot move into her new apartment until utilities are on, and can't have the utilities transferred until this is paid.

A Humble Morning...

A gentleman that calls us about once a month for a single bus pass called this morning...for the first time in over a year he asked for his usual single bus pass for his a family counseling appt. and this time he also asked if there was any way we could help him find some food. I am often humbled by the selflessness of the people we serve. The tone in his voice sounded genuinely sorry to be asking for food...I wonder if I could ever be so humble in his situation.

Remember our dear friend Korea? You may remember a post about her and her family a few weeks ago. We have a very special request for her today. Previously her family all slept on the floors (pallet beds as she says) but today she has had beds (mattresses and box springs) donated for her whole family!!! 

However, she doesn't have any bedding or frames for them. She has a King a Queen and a Full size bed. Please visit our webpage below and if you can help with any of these items, please let us know!!!
